Jewelry Appraisals

We perform appraisals for insurance and routinely work closely with insurance companies to ensure accurate coverage for your most precious jewelry items.  By having a thorough appraisal performed and then insured, you can rest peacefully knowing that your jewelry is covered in case of theft, loss, or disaster.

What is an appraisal?

Quite simply, an appraisal is a thorough and informed evaluation of the style, contents, and condition of a jewelry item.  Although appraisals are commonly used for everything from reselling an item to settling an estate, our appraisals are designed to clearly represent your item when said item is no longer present to be inspected and can be effectively used for insurance replacement.

How much time do I need to allow for an appraisal to be performed?

Two weeks.

Our appraisals are detailed and thorough, meaning that we like to inspect your item from all angles, take multiple measurements, and quality of all metals and stones.  A rushed appraisal usually means a lackluster evaluation.

Will I need to leave my item?

Yes! Our excellent staff will inspect the basic condition of your item during your visit, and you will receive a receipt listing this information-- as well as a picture of your jewelry.  This receipt will also document the expected date of completion.  All jewelry items are safely kept in our vaults while in our possession.

What other information do I need to know before appraising?

All jewelry items will be cleaned, free of charge, during their time with us.  We will also inform you of any damage and potential repairs.  If your appraisal is ready before the quoted two weeks, we will call you immediately.

How much does an appraisal cost?

Our pricing is as follows:

$125 (plus applicable sales tax) for one item.

Should you have multiple items for appraisals, we give you a bit of a price break!  For every item brought in at the same time, a $75 per item fee applies. (Example: I have five items to appraise.  My first item will then be $125, and the other four items will be $75 each.  The total would be $425 and tax).

Upon purchasing an item here at Koerber’s you will receive a free complimentary appraisal with your purchase.

I need my item appraised faster than two weeks!

An additional fee per item applies.

Additional disclosures:

We reserve the right to amend our fees at any time, which includes an upcharge for items deemed more intricate than normally encountered.  Our staff will inform you of such upcharges before any appraisals are performed.
